Short version: PSG is best for practical, defined productivity improvements such as accounting, HR, CRM, POS, cybersecurity, ecommerce, inventory, and other supported solutions. Check the official page for current support levels, eligibility, and approved solution details.
When PSG tends to fit
- You know the operational problem and need a proven tool category.
- The project is mostly adoption, configuration, training, and rollout.
- You can explain the productivity gain in plain terms: fewer manual steps, faster response, cleaner records, better reporting, or fewer errors.
When PSG may not be enough
If the project needs custom integrations, process redesign, data architecture, AI workflow design, or a bigger change management plan, PSG may be too narrow. In those cases, compare it with EDG or start with a smaller paid discovery phase.
What to prepare before speaking to vendors
- List the workflow you want improved from start to finish.
- Estimate current time spent, error rate, or missed revenue.
- Identify who will own the system after implementation.
- Ask what data can be exported if you change vendors later.
Do not start with the grant percentage. Start with whether the project would still be worth doing if support were lower than expected or delayed.
